In the legislative budget adopted this past spring, FHA successfully secured capital funding for rural hospitals. Recently, FHA’s President Mary C. Mayhew, spent time with the CEO of Doctors’ Memorial Hospital in Perry, Lauren Faison-Clark, and members of her team to hear more about planning improvements at the hospital, the hospital’s recent conversion to Critical Access Hospital status and ongoing efforts to preserve and expand vital access to inpatient and outpatient services for residents of local communities. The tour and discussion also focused on other opportunities to strengthen rural healthcare and to build upon current strategic partnerships and models that support remote access to specialty care.
